After getting to the top of Shutlingsloe, I was told about this rather stunning convergence of two rivers, astride three counties, where you can actually stand in all three at once.
So one morning, with the right conditions, I headed off to find Three Shires Head, one of those little gems you don’t know about naturally, as it’s hidden down a valley!
To find it head up the A54 away from Macclesfield, as you get to a bend, take a right and pull into a layby (as the road only goes so far). As you walk down the hill, you see a gate to the left, go through it and walk down the path (take good footwear, it’s rocky!).
At the bottom of the valley, you will see the bridge over one river, and then you will see the rest open up! I took this footage from Three Shires Head, its where Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire meet, and it’s stunning, but if you go, enjoy the views as well!
A walk I’d recommend it highly and if you have a few hours, you could do the hill as well, it’s all near Wildboarclough, which is a big circular walk you can do!
