Of course, I have to start this section glowing about my home borough of Greater Manchester! While I was born in Stockport, my family have deep connections to Manchester, and I’ll admit I love the place, and could never leave.
From the outer areas, where you can stand in the hills and look down on our city borough bowl, to historical buildings which add character, to parks, and more, it’s an amazing place!
I love the old mills, I grew up around them, as a Stockport lad, I had quite a few close to where I lived, many which have found new purpose, while retaining a link to their working class roots. I also love some of the stunning old buildings around the borough, and there’s quite a few around Manchester City Centre and Salford, see a few pics!
Rochdale town hall is a stunning old building if you pass that way, plus some stunning drives as you head into the hills to get there! I like a local walk around Bramhall Park and the hall, as you may have guessing, I like my old buildings!
Talking of buildings, there’s also this one in Manchester called Churchgate House, it’s now the HQ for the organisation that runs our borough, and you’ve guessed why I like it by now, it has a link to my family name!
